What Is the SEVIS Fee?
The SEVIS Fee (I-901 Fee) is a mandatory payment required by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for all international students applying for the F-1 visa. This fee helps maintain the SEVIS system (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System), the database that tracks and monitors international students during their studies in the United States.
Every student who receives a Form I-20 from a SEVP-approved school—such as Internexus Indiana—must pay the SEVIS Fee before scheduling the visa interview. The fee is separate from the visa application fee and must be paid only once per new I-20.
How to Pay the SEVIS Fee – Step-by-Step
1. Have your I-20 ready
You will need the SEVIS ID number (starts with N00…) located at the top of your I-20.
2. Go to the official payment website
Access:

This is the ONLY official government website to pay the SEVIS Fee.
3. Select “I-901 Fee for F-1 Students”
Choose the option for F-1 visa applicants and continue.
4. Enter your personal information
Type your:

SEVIS ID
-
Full name (as in your passport)
-
Date of birth
-
School information (already printed on your I-20)
5. Confirm your details
Make sure everything matches your I-20 exactly.
6. Make the payment
You can pay using:

International payment methods approved on the website
The fee for F-1 students is US$350.
7. Print your payment confirmation
Print two copies of your receipt.
You must take the SEVIS Fee receipt to:

Do I need to pay the SEVIS Fee again?
You only need to pay again if:
You receive a NEW SEVIS ID number
You start a new academic program after ending the previous one
If you are only renewing your visa with the SAME SEVIS ID, you do not need to pay again.
